  1. The blade looks good from what I can see and I agree that without knowing the steel it can be hard to suggest any tips. On the other photo you may want to invest in some supports on the forge so you can't tip over the fire pot could be dangerous and as a fireman I strongly recommend a sturdy base.

  2. I use the back of a blade as a striker when I have flint, and a solidly handled blade is essential in a lot of survival situations. Flint and other survival items can also be integrated into a sheath fairly easily without compromising the blade in any way. Just something to think about and my 2 cents.

  3. I second that statement. The help on this site is great and by looking at great work like this I continue to be inspired and driven to make better and more advanced blades.

  4. Here is a Rasp Bowie sold to a customer not long ago I thought I would share it with you guys the blade is 9 3/4 long and the knife is 13 3/4 overall. The handle is mule deer from here in Wyoming with a nickel silver gaurd home made mosaic pin and sheath.

  5. Here is the coclusion to a previous WIP on a maple and cable knife the sheath is hand stitched and tooled in house the mosaic pins are home made and the gaurd is nickel silver. The blade is 6" forged from 1" mainline from a 175 ton conventional crane that I worked with. The only thing I amwaiting on are some new stencils for the touchark.   6. If you are in Bakersfield my old home town is Tehachapi California and my old smithing partner runs Iron bear forge there. He is a great guy look him up on Facebook under ironbearforge he will likely help ya out.

  7. I made this knife a few weeks ago as a way to break the routine and it came out nice the blade is 6 1/4 long the OAL is 13" I believe. The leather is hand tooled by me as well as the mosaic pins the gaurd is nickel silver the handle is a mule deer I shot a few years back stabalized with super glue.

  8. Here are a few photos of the cable and maple knife ive been working on lately, so far the knife is turning out very well the cable welded nicely with no inclusions! this is also the first time I have stabalized wood in house and it also is turning out well. Now the photos the first one is of the second weld series being done the second is the blade as forged the third is after etch and the fourth is the test fit for the wood and gaurd I will share some better pics when its all done.  Let me know what you guys think I always enjoy the input.
