  1. Ok I am more excited for the fair this year than ever before. However if it doesn't yield anything I will defiantly take you up on that offer Vaughn T.
  2. Ok I will try to talk to everyone I see. Unfortunately the flea market is at the fair grounds and fair just got here so it might be a little while before I can go to the flea market.
  3. Thank you guys for all if the ideas. I just got to talking to a guy at a machine shop. No blower but still a really nice guy. As far as the blowers in Asheville a talked to them and most where sold and one was a little to far away but if I can't find one soon I might drive up there. The fair did just come to town so I am hoping to get over there on Sunday. Next time I go to the flea market I will try to chat with all of the tool vendors. Keep the great ideas coming.
  4. Thanks for the website I will try that. As far as the flea market there usually isn't a whole lot of blacksmithing stuff but one guy who is there every weekend is an old blacksmith I will see if he has one.
  5. So I have been looking high and low for a handcrank blower. The ones on eBay are a little pricey and I don't want to buy anything I can't see in person. I found some on Craigslist but they where four hours away and that's a little far. So what I am asking is where else can I find a hand crank. If it helps any I live in Raleigh NC
  6. Thanks for the stores. I must be doing something wrong because I have been looking for a week and haven't come up with anything.
  7. I was having trouble finding an online source. Do you know of any good places to buy it.
  8. The clay aroud here is brick red so I don't think it would be good for fire clay. And I have heard bad things about kitty litter as fire clay.
  9. So I am planning to build a forge. I want to line the whole thing with fire clay but I have not been able to find any where I live (central nc). I am going to try a couple of brick suppliers next but if they don't have any what else could I use to line my forge.
  10. Thanks for the bucket of water ideas I will defiantly use that. Today I found an ok gas grill fr free so I decided to use that instead of the 55 gal drum. So this is what it looks like now.
  11. Thank you for the feed back. Unfortunety I already have to brake rotor so I think that's what I will use but thank you for the great ideas.
  12. Sorry if this doesn't make sense I am still trying to load the picture
  13. So I want to start blacksmithing and have been reading all of the threads about how to make your own forge. I have compiled a few ideas and this is what I have come up with. I want to clay the brake rotor/ fire pot but can't find any fire clay if any one knows where I could get some it would be greatly appreciated.
