Ive made a couple punchs for marking steel out coil spring and quenched in oil and tempered to a dk straw so far they are holding up well. I got my info out of Joe Delaronde book, center punch thats square tiped seems to show up better also and I seem to like it this way

ON RUSTED METAL -OSPHO is a rust-inhibiting coating - NOT A PAINT You do not have to remove tight rust. Merely remove loose paint and rust scale, dirt, oil, grease and other accumulations with a wire brush - apply a coat of OSPHO as it comes in the container - let dry overnight, then apply whatever paint system you desire. When applied to rusted surfaces, OSPHO causes iron oxide (rust) to chemically change to iron phosphate - an inert, hard substance that turns the metal black. Where rust is exceedingly heavy, two coats of OSPHO may be necessary to thoroughly penetrate and blacken the surface to be painted. A dry, powdery, grayish-white surface usually develops; this is normal - brush off any loose powder before paint application.


NEW METALS - For new ferrous or aluminum metals: remove dirt, grease, or oil; apply OSPHO, let dry overnight, then paint.

Quenchrack I was taking apart a champ 400 blower and couldnt understand what the crud was in around the top cover figured it out its beeswax melted and filled in to make a seal . try it out

Rub ivory soap on blade before heat treat is suppose to reduce the amount of scale that will form .

A wine rack would be a cool idea , you can weld up to make the frame of a coffee table and put a glass top on it . I got to see a real neat coat rack that was free standing made from a bunch of horse shoes ,Hoof pick and have made hearts out of the shoes for deco in homes

Have you guys ever heard of weld chain and ball bearings in a can ? One guy I know claims this is the easist way to work it
