  1. Since i live about 5 miles from the scrapyard, i went over and took some measurements of the ram and height and other stuff.Compared those to the Erie chart here and some were the same and some were a little differnt, but overall this Chambersburg is a 800 lb hammer. !!11 ft tall and the floor base is 64x41 in. IT is sorta rough condition but would make good yard art. I asked if they would sell it and am waiting on a call back tomorrow. I dont want it but figured i would ask cause i deal with the yard on other stuff. dont know about total weight cause it wasnt on the above chart.  Smokey

  2. Finally retired after 40 yrs forging. Just moved to O.R from Colo. and trying to get my smaller shop set up so i can do things for me instead of customers.IF i can get away from wifes obsession with plants and gardens, and guess who gets to do all the grunt work.

  3. I h.ad one of those myistery machines years ago . It is a tire shrinker and stretcher. tire was heated in a certain area and laid on its side, clamped in two places and the ships wheel was turned one way to stretch aqnd the other way to shrink ,making it a little thicker and reducing the diameter a little. Not being a wheelwright, i finally donated it to a ag museum in the bay area of C.A.Smokey    THe table was a two piece affair which would move back and forth .

  4. TV host Mike Rowe of show Somebody Gotta Do IT has filmed a show at Dragon Forge in Colorado to be viewed in early spring of 2015. Mike Rowe,s other shows include The Deadliest Catch and Dirty Jobs. Dragon Forge has been in business for at least 40+ years. Father and Son operation and produce highend ironwork for the trophy homes in the Colo. ski areas. Should be well worth watching when it comes on. Smokey.

  5. I have a Chambersburg 300lb self contained on the oak shipping pallet it came on. (thank you U.S. govt.surplus sale) IT weighs 10,000 lbs and I stuffed 8 inches of oak timbers under the pallet and have it on a 6 in. concrete floor in my shop. Floor wwas poured in 2002 with a little more rebar under the hammer area. Still no cracks or any problems yet. Put some horse trailer mat under it and go for it. Smokey 07

  6. Last castable I made put a heat lamp in one endand blocked off half of the other end so moisture could escape. Left it on 24/7 for 4 or 5 days.
First fire only for about 10 min. Next few fires each a little longer then go for it.
