Did you check out the American Bladesmith Society's Website?  I believe they maintain a list of MS they have issued.

Yes sir, haven't found any info so far.  Thanks

  2. Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but I would like to find out the maker of this beautiful knife. Has a maker's mark that appears to be -SUS- and a master smith stamp on the back side.  Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

  3. Been a while since I posted here.  Here is a small knife I made of 1080 carbon fiber and bolsters of Jose Gomez Damascus.  This Damascus is some of the best I've ever used.

Thanks Jose for producing such fine Damascus.

  4. Rich,    No, that is not my steel.  I'm not sure who made it, I've had the steel a long time.

I havent made any damascus in a long time.

    Thanks for the comment

Classy and well done....Is that your pattern weld steel?

  5. Here is a hunter I finished. It's 01 tool steel, soldered 416 stainless guard, red and stainless spacers. About 9" overall length. Deer antler handle.
    Thanks for looking,
    Buddy

  6. I'm lovin it. been trying to get a handle to look like that for a while. any pointers, specially on getting the fibre to lay nice in low spots, or is it one solid chunk that you carved up?

That is 1/8" thick G10 handle. I grind it to 800 grit, slack belt and rub it with scotch brite pad.

  7. That is sweet! Really nice. What did you use/do for the finish?

    Mitch

Mitch, I finished the blade by hand rubbing to 600 grit paper. Guard hand rubbed to 800 grit then fine Scott bright pad.
  8. Yes, I think brass is a very common pin material, especially on factory knives. I would think the origional pins were peened on the handle material before the knife was assembled. I would think it would be hard to peen the pins with the knife assembled. I sometimes use a head spinner in a drill press to round over the heads of pins, but it does very little peening to them.
