  1. There's a big difference in asking price and getting price. A thing is NOT worth what a person asks, it's worth what someone will pay for it. I'm with NJ, I'd take 8 $100 bills and the intent to say good day. You can't effectively bargain if you let the seller know you REALLY want a thing, you have to have your mind made up that it just isn't really all THAT important to have.

    Frosty The Lucky.

I run inot that all the time.."Well Ive been looking online" right then I know Im gonna hear some ridiculous number.."Well I saw them on ebay priced for $1100" but they don't realize that same anvil has been relisted a dozen times..

  2. Ive been wanting to get a set of bolt in dies for mine so that I can make special bottom die blocks for tooling. right now  I have an anvil saddle and spring tools but my flat dies were homamde by the previous owner and are pretty large. They are great dies but with just the dies you have very little space for top tools..I have just enough for spring tools in the anvil saddle..Mine dosnt have a removable sow block, that would be a god idea if it did..A 100# would have more room than a 50# anyway Id say..Good luck!

  3. That is beautiful work! Id like to add a little something. I know your looking for a 100# hammer per your other post..Be careful of which hammer you get if your still looking to use top tooling to make hammers and such with..Some hammers like the older LG's that have the wrap around guides have very limited space for top tools..I know I have one. You can still use top tools but they have to be very short and the guide makes it hard to see at times..It looks like you have plenty of room with that hammer. Not that Im dogging LG's, I love mine, just thought Id throw that out there .Regardless very nice work!

  4. I made a 5# cross peen with the same style as Peter after taken a class from him. He is one of the most impressive smith's I have ever seem. to hit a piece of steel on the edge of the anvil and have both sides the hammer side and the anvil side come out the same. As he says a few extra min in the forge and a lot less filing. He dose suffer from damage to the elbow.

I heard him say "10 min at the forge will save you an hour at the vise"..So true

  5. Well, Ive thought about a ring roller espically for smaller trivets made from 1/8" flat stock..It would be handy to have regardless but we often make rings from 1/2" and 3/4" thick round stock for farm equipment(our own and familys). Im thinking of getting one of the salt fork craftsmans cones..We have one of their blocks and have been very happy with it..
The tumbler is actually a much better example of what Im talking about (Thanks Tim) When you have a hundred items laying there waiting to be all brushed off by hand with a whirly bird you realize just how bad you need one   A tumbler is absolutely on my next to build list..
