Finished my forge today and tested it out. Works great! For my first project I made a knife, some pictures below...

First coal forge made from a cast iron wheel off an old potato extractor . Some pictures....

Would this work as an anvil for starting off on? The top plate is about 1/2 an inch thick. Very heavy. Also very noise when hammered! Any advice?
