  1. My first spike knife. Started hammering it into a bowie but it ended up being a Bowie/Skinner. Funny when you have no idea what you are doing and the project kinda goes it's own direction. Anyway it was a lot of fun.

  2. Johannes, It really is not that heavy, probably about 3 lbs. I gave it to the old gent and he seems to have no problems walking with it. Not sure about the balance other than that he keeps his balance while using it. He does spit alot of tobacco juice and it will be nice to see what patina it has on it in about a year.

  3. Thanks for the nice comments guys. To answer your questions, FAT PETE, I am not a member yet but would like to join. I keep checking their site but it seems to be still under construction. DALE PETERS, the whole thing is made from 1/2 solid round. I made it for a farmer who is in his 80's I figured that he could use the head part to pull himself up to get going. I will probably wrap the hand part in some string leather to soften it up a bit on his paws.

  4. Hi folks, I got me an old 14" chainsaw chain and bought some 20 Mule Team Borax. I have looked at a lot of areas on the net on making a billet to hopefully turn into a knife blade. I do have a few questions if you dont mind answering.

    1. When I tie or weld the chain, do I make one loop in the chain

    2. Do I apply the borax before the first heat

    3. How do I know when I do the fold.

    4. Do I strike the billet flat or can I turn it on edge and strike the whole thing into a square billet.

    Thanks-

  5. Thanks MROBB for the nice comment, Larrynjr, when I placed a ruler across the center mass of the dish, it had a 3.5" drop to the center then it bevels out to flat. It works pretty well. I did one without the hanger and just welded legs underneith and I have cooked stir-fry, chicken and eggs, bacon on it.

  6. Hi Folks, I am Smoke from Pennsylvania. Last year I decided that I wanted to get into Wrought Iron Fencing for a little extra Money. After I did my first job by wrapping 100 ft of 5' X 10' panels around an old 17th century Inn, I was hooked. I bought an old Anvil, wow, those things can get pricey. I started fooling around with smaller stuff. Great hobby and money maker too. Thanks for the wealth of information here. Here are couple pics of my first of 10 panels.
