Hi folks, been working on a Koi Fish sculpture for a lady that has a patio next to a Koi fish pond. When all said and done, It will have plate steel for the base. Two large seaweeds and a Lilly pad. The fish will be welded to the metal plant stalks as if it is swimming through them. I probably hand forge a frog to put on the lilly pad.

Hi folks, after years of using a propane forge, I decided to fire up my coal forge. Boy, I should have done this years ago. It is amazing at the heat you can get in a very short time compared to propane. In the pic I was tying my first axe head using coal. I learned my first lesson, if it is left in there too long, it will burn up. With propane, I could watch the color I was getting. Anyway, I found that it heats my shop better than propane..Using a hair dryer for air until I get an old hand crank. Having a great time with coal !

Nice job Waid, if you marry her, you just created a family heirloom that will pass from one hand to another for many years.

Thanks Glenn, I will open it up. Probably help more ash to fall too. Should I put clay in the drum or should I be ok ?

Hey Guys, I made a pattern out of poster board from the formulas that you shared and helped explain. Sorry it took so long for me to figure it out. It Worked out perfect.
I will post the bird feeder on this thread when I finish it up and have it powder coated. Thanks Again ! Just shows, never too old to learn how to do something new. -
Thanks guys, I think I have it now.

Thanks guys, yes, the post got deleted somehow during the down time. I am not sure how to do the steps after I divided the hemisphere into equal parts.
As far as the cone size, 19" diameter on the bottom. Point at the top. The distance from top to bottom, 12".
It should be easy, I know you have it there, but I just dont see it yet.
Thanks for your help. -
Thanks for the information guys. I will try both and see how I make out. Thanks Again !

I need to make a sheet metal cone to put on top of a large bird feeder. I do not know how to make the cone. The cone is 19" round at the bottom and the top is to a point. The height of the cone is 12" top to bottom.
Thanks for any help. -

The man wants a 36" diameter ring, 1" raised edge and expanded metal to sit in it like a tray for the birds to stand on. I am open ears for any other thoughts. I just need a ring 1" X 36" raised edge. Figured that angle would do the trick. Let me know what you think here.

Hi folks, I have to make a large ornamental bird feeder for a guy and I need to roll a 36" circle out of 1X1X1/8 angle iron. What is the best way I could do this. I saw a roller at harbor freight for 69 somthing dollars. But I am not sure that it will work. Any Ideas. Thanks
