To get the depth, I would work the flat areas around the cross pushing more metal toward the cross, then anneal flip it and take that metal and push out for the depth. I was a little worried about punching through but I was able to keep it thick enough that that was not an issue. Walker

Wanted to post a couple pix of a some repousse I've been working on. Used 2" copper pipe that was slit and flattened. Piece is about 5"x5". Walker

From everything I've read and with the "little bit" of experience I have on the subject, 32 ounce or 18 gauge (.043) copper is good size for doing repousse (and raising also). Walker

I've been trying to learn raising. I've made all my tools...including my raising hammer made from steel plate and old spring, one raising stake made from two large bolts, one raising stake from some odd piece of steel picked up from dump and one planishing stake from old acetylene bottle cap. Here's some pics.

Been coming to Iforgeiron for a while but just notice the coppersmithing section in the forum. I've been learning to raise copper bowls and have just begun to learn how to do chasing/repousse. I'm going to try to post pics of my first three chased/repoussed pieces. Maybe even a couple of my copper bowls that I raised on homemade stakes. Walker
