If the craftsmanship of the tools is any indication, then it might be a good deal. If you can then you might want to go take a better look at that forge, you can't really see it very well and there are some problems you need to look out for. If it needs to be relined or if the bricks are all broken then that could cost a little bit. $175 is a decent price for just the forge if it performs as he says it does, even if it needs to be relined. I would jump on it, after I looked at everything.

First, I would like to thank everybody on this forum for the help you guys provided. I asked a couple of questions, but for the most part I scoured ya'lls designs and information that was already here. It Is most likely a Trenton. The body is exactly like my anvil, and combined with that serial, spells Trenton. Make sure you mount it on something solid and clamp it down good, Trentons ring like nobodys business.

Anybody know where to get some kaowool in central Texas? Austin, Temple, Waco, etc.. That stuff is expensive to ship.

There is a guy near me who is selling a 100# for $250. from the small pic that I saw on his ad it looks to be in pretty good shape. He is going to send me some more pics tomorrow. I figured I'd get a head start on my research. He said it has a serial number that dates it back to the 20s. So, anybody got any dirt on it?

Where is the best place to get some duraboard? I want to use it for the doors on the forge I am building, but I can't find any that is available online in the small quantity that I need. I only need two sq. feet of the stuff. Any ideas? Thanks.

What is the determining factor of cast iron, is there some way to tell by looking at it? Has any one ever heard of alamo steel anvils? I couldnt find anything on google. The same guy has one and he says its 50 lbs, but he wants 175 for that one.

I found this at a flea market in texas, It has no discerninable marks on it but it weighs 150 lbs. It has a nice ring to it, I did not have a ball bearing, but the hammer shot up about half the drop height. The horn is very short and stocky. Guy wants 300 for it. Anybody know what it could be? It also doesn't have a pritchel hole.
