  9. I just finished making a side draft hood that sits on the end of my Canady Otto forge. I made the hood frame from 1 inch angle iron and covered with 16 gauge sheet metal. Went out the side of the pole building with 8 inch pipe. Once the flue gets warm ( burn a wad of newpaper to heat the flue) it will suck the fire sideways into the flue with a man door open just to the end of the forge and a 10x10 sliding door wide open. I am posting pictures in the gallery, they are to big to post here.
  10. ebay #200075894748 I am not the seller of this item, nor am I associated with the seller but would welcome opinions.
  11. modern masters is being rerun on the channel (fine living) this program features craftsman that work in several different mediums. They feature blacksmiths and this morning Dick sargent was on. You can check the schedule for time and channel by going to fineliving.com search modern masters, this will give you the days they have blacksmiths featured. This program used to run on HGTV and is well worth watching.

  15. so-steve or anyone else that gets steel from the steelyard (new) I always check to see what they have in the way of bent pieces of new stock, sometimes 20 foot sections of stock end up getting bent when they offload it and I get that stock for much less than straight pieces. It has been awhile but the last time I got it I bought 25 pieces of 1/2 in square mild at about 60% of the cost of new straight stock.

    Scot sword ban

I would hate to think that anyone studying martial arts may soon lose their hands and feet to lame laws like this.
  17. E.C.Stearns 5 in. sliding clamp. This clamp was in the bottom of a box lot of junk that had one item I wanted on top.I have never seen another one like it.
  18. I got this firepot at a local farm auction. I built the pan from a piece of 3/8 plate that I had left over from a bobcat bucket repair and the lip and legs were old bed frame angle iron. The firepot sits flush with the pan and is held up from the bottom with two flat straps on the firepot flange. Notice the pan conforms to the shape of the firepot where the metal goes into the fire.
  19. Soon to have a side draft hood.I picked this up at a farm auction this spring.Other than making new legs for this it was complete. Most of these that I have seen were broken where the blower arm attaches.dimension of pan is 55 in.x 32 in. including water trough or coal trough as I have seen it refered to in old ads as either. This forge with blower and firepot weighs about 325 lbs.
