  1. My grand grand-pa was hunting bears and hogs with single shot rifle and axe. Of course hi was almost 7 foot tall blacksmith and could straiten horse shoe by hand (don't know how far newer met him) Any way 5160 hard edge and soft back 12-18 inch blade will bend up to 45 degrees safely. So short spear Zulu style and short sword or axe will satisfy your man vs wild (hog) call. I would keep .357 nearby just in case.
  2. I use round magnet around the horn. Works for me.
  3. My forced air forge uses about 1.3 lb per hour. So 20lb tank (filled 15lb) will work for 10-12 hours.
  4. I really like that anvil. Just what I need.
  5. Ok I went toscrap yard and gor forklift tune 210# cut it to a 3 pices. What now? What is the best way to weld it to an anvil?
  6. I want to build saw maker anvil (I do have a real anvil 100# and several RR tracks but I want to have something in 70 lb range with a lot of face space) I can't find one for sale in my aria SC, GA. Here is my idea. Face is tool steel (or what better?) 6"x12" by 1"+. Under it piece of mild steel 5"x11"x2" and under it another piece of mild steel 4"x10" goes to bottom plate. Walls will be 1/2 steel and all the voids filled with lead (not sure if it's a good idea). All structure will be welded together. How do they ring anyway?
  7. Top class laminated steel, keeping up good work. Molodec.

  8. I did it. added in-line pressure gage and seems to work for me. I'm not going for exact measure of psi just for reference. But with 15psi regulator opened fully gage shows 15psi.
  9. Want to add pressure gage for my forge can i use any gage or it have to something special?
  10. thank you. very impressive anvil repair you did.
