  1. well i can say ive never seen this before.... a whole smithy for sale... its a bit hexy but it has the lot...to get started.... Smithy forge anvil tools legvice postdrill grindstone - eBay, Tools, Metalworking, Woodworking, Business, Industrial. (end time 22-Oct-08 14:07:54 AEST) .
  2. the best way to keep the stuff for longer is to keep it in the fridge... ive got about 8 tubes (not all the same stuff) some open, some full, in the fridge and they're all good....some are around 2 years old....
  3. what ever you do..dont buy an Ozito one it is the worst tool you could possibly buy....when youve got something spinning that fast the last thing you want is a wonky chuck (what ever they're called on a die grinder) mine was about $40 AUS....i would definalty go for the air one instead....
  4. i am having the same problem except for the part that i can get anything to stick at all.... i've tried every different heat from cherry red to sparkling white.....i tried with a 4# sledge and i tried with a 2 pound ball pein.....ive tried lots of borax and ive tried little borax....ive tried hitting it hard....and ive tried gently taping the xxx thing....nothing sticks....the steel is clean and there is no scale on it at all..... does borax ever go "off" or become bad when it is old...the stuff iam am using is a few years old...will that make a difference??? iam using a coke fire which is pretty clean....i only had to clean out the clinkers after about 3 hours of running...which i thought was pretty good by most standards..(is that a good way to measure how clean the fire is...if not...how else??) is there any thing else you can do wrong or is it just a matter of persaverance? i tried about 80 times and got no where....i thought it had stuck once but then it turned out that it hadnt even thought about sticking at all..... i am using very mild steel and have tried with reo before with no luck....
  5. thanks John thats what i was looking for.... does the tappered pin have to be any particular taper...or just make to fit, the beat it in???
  6. hey i recently bought a post vise.... its around 80# or so. when i got it, it didnt come with the mounting plate (the bit that holds it to the bench/post) i was wondering if anybody knows of any detailed piictures of one out there somewhere, or if any one could be so kind as to draw some up and post them.. also would a truck spring do for the spring? what dimensions is a standard one?? thanks
