Covforge is exactly right. I used to puddle lead on auto bodies when they weren't made out of used beer cans. The same body files I used for that are now being sold by high dollar woodworking suppliers for shaping wood.

Bag balm is the best stuff I have ever found for sore chapped hands. Your local feed store will have it.

Last soda can I welded was long enough ago that it had the pull off tab. It can be done, expect more failures that success till you get it all figured out. That was with an O/A rig.

The fan works and a light wipe of ATF is good too.

Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly, Bagpipe tunes, Gordon Lightfoot. Classic Rock. Depends on my mood.

I have never seen a different type other then the horribly expensive copper wash boilers, but a piece of light sheetmetal from your local steel yard is cheap and one less thing to worry about.

Graham , you do real nice work!

Give some thought to pulling out the cement unless it's refractory and putting in a layer of clay. Cement is going to spall in no time when you subject it to heat. One other worri I have is the wash tub. Zinc fumes are just plain un healthy. Other than that. Looks like you are up and running!

A lost shoe must only be lucky for the finder. Can't see how it would be for the rider!

I'm a woodworker and never use gorilla glue any more. It is fantastic for attaching dissimilar materials to each other. BUT, in a recent test in a major woodworking magazine it was shown to be poor for wood. Tite bond II or III are the way to go. Excellent glues.

WeeeeeeeeeeeeLL it is an old friend. Since I can remember we have always had it in the shop and used it for a million and one things. Sometimes new and improved, just isn't.

You can get it t Wal Mart in the automotive section. Red plastic bottle. It's sold mainly as a fuel additive for some odd reason.

I'm on daily aspirin so I have band aids in any place I think I might get gored by a project. They have come in hand several times.

Since I don't work to super close tolerances a vernier is exactly right for me. If I do get into machine work though I guess I'll have to change my sloppy ways. LOL!

Getting the spring isn't all that hard . The tough part is getting it re hardened and re tempered. That is best left to a spring shop. When i was checking into it I found that buying a new spring would be cheaper than having an old one reworked. If I buils a spring helve hammer I'll just leave the curve in the spring.
