  1. I don't know if this will work for you, but I made up some tabs and bolted them to my blower and then welded them to a pipe on a stand. Granted I am no welder, but it looks like it will work for now. Might make a few tabs for the front of the blower too. I also ground out the pipe so it would cradle the blowers curve.

  2. WHOA turbo, DO NOT grind off anything :o ...you haven't had it long enough to give up yet. ;) Get a 5gal bucket of diesel and give it a long soak...by long I mean a few days at the least! You will be surprised what will move then. Good score on your 'new' stuff! enjoy.

x2! Just soak it for a few days and see what happens. I would use grinding as a last resort.

  3. The reason that you can only buy half whiskey barrels is that you could put a stopper in the hole and throw it in the pond. In about 2 weeks the pressure of the pond water on the barrel would push about a gallon of Jack Daniels out of the wood and into the barrel. Drag it out and get a free gallon of Jack Daniels, , , then cut it in half for a slack tub.

I like this idea, but it seems like a lot of work just for one gallon!

  4. Having just found this bumped thread in 2012, the videos don't seem to exist as videos, just a one image shot. At least that is where my browser takes me. Are these videos still available to view somewhere? Please?

If you are referring to the videos that are posted on Brian's google site you'll need to choose the option below the picture and download the AVI file. This worked great for me and now I can save the clay demo of the tong blank and watch it over multiple times so I can practice this myself.
  5. If you want to can take off the gear housing and scrape out any old gasket that may be in there. When I took mine apart it looked like it had an old leather gasket. I went to the shoe store and bought a leather shoe lace and soaked the leather in ATF fluid to help soften it before I installed it in the housing. This seemed to help set the gasket and I haven't had issues with leakage.

  6. Yeah, I made a post about this same blower I picked up a while ago.

I have both this blower as well as the Canedy Otto Royal Western Chief. I found this picture in a PDF file I found about the Canedy Otto Mfg.

Hopefully this will help, but like yours mine doesn't have the Canedy Otto name cast into the fan housings.

Here's a few pics of my blower

  7. I've picked up a blower which I thought was a Canedy Otto, but it doesn't have any of the normal markings, just part numbers cast into the fan housing

The inner housing is listed as C 997 and the outer housing is C 996. I've searched a bit on this blower and haven't found much. Just wondering if anyone has seen a blower of this type before. I am guessing it was manufactured by Canedy Otto for another company due to the fact it looks just like my smaller Royal Western Chief blower.
