  1. Today I developed a new ladder pattern design for a damascus sword that I am making for Bladeshow (if it happens). I also set up some of our new Lincoln Electric gear. Plasma and Tig welder. I worked on resurfacing me new German patterned anvil as well. I am doing that by hand with a heavy bar with sand paper on the bottom so it's taking a few days of hand scraping it here and there in between other jobs.
  2. I have no idea how Raid has so much money to spend on advertising. They hit me up every month for a spot and we say no most of the time because it's just too much for our audience. Sometimes we say yes and try to make the ad fun or do something goofy. I much prefer working with Skillshare and companies that are relative to our brand. Those opportunities don't always come up though. They are supposed to make you think of that. Same techniques ! Good eye !
  3. We are putting a huge addition on our shop... the RAID promo.
  4. On our most recent video we started with a wrought Iron anchor chain and forged a Bladesmithing style hammer. Ilya also hand engraved it and inlaid some copper, silver and gold. I thought that some of you may get a kick out of it! Video removed due to advertising. Youtube videos that contain advertisements are not allowed on IForgeIron.
  5. She has been fired almost everyday since we got her. We still use our propane forges more often then not, but it's nice to have the option and the heat almost on demand. So happy to have this lil forge.
  6. Yea, we will be adding a draft system to ours soon,
  7. We are trying to talk Sam into making this a mortar instead!
  8. I would just like to say that seeing this every morning still makes me laugh a little. Super cool idea!
  9. It was a nice way to start off a week. My old highschool tech ed teacher has been trying to get me to come get his old anvil and coal forge for awhile now, so Sam and I picked them up on friday. I was super happy to find out the anvil was a fisher and the forge was in great condition and ready to fire. We have had the parts to make coal forges, but ever since I have been at BKS we have never gotten around to setting one up and it just so happens that we have developed some new axe products that could use a coal forge for the edge welds. Needless to say I am excited that we fired the new forge up first thing this morning and Sam made use of it fast! It pretty much stayed lit all day. Just thought I would share a few photos of it flaming up for the first time :)
  10. Hello all! My brother Kerry Stagmer has been posting and reading here from quite some time now and I thought it was time for me to jump in. I have read the forum for awhile now and there are some great topics being shared between everyone. I would like to share some things that I have learned in return. A little background. I am 27 and I made my first knife at 12 at my brother Kerry's shop. I hung around the shop for awhile after that and started working with him in high school. After I graduated I decided to jump in the sword making buisness with Kerry full time. I am now co-owner of Baltimore Knife and Sword. We make everything from stage combat blunt swords to high layer pattern welded customs. Through the years we have collected more tools that I can think of so we decided to share some of our tools and knowledge and started a annual hammer-in event in March called Fire and Brimstone. Our shop is located in Marriottsville Maryland. We are currently expanding our work space to add more forging area as that part of the buisness is picking up(or at least we are getting too many tools and need more room). Our website is www.BaltimoreKnife.com. We make about 1000 pieces a year. Everything from daggers to two handed swords. Check out our work if you like. We also like to dabble in just about every other kind of metal working. From white metals to car bodies to anything else to distract us from making swords 24/7. Thanks for having me and I hope that I can share some things with you all as I have learned from many of you. Cheers,
  11. Good reads. All of them. Thanks for sharing.
