thanks guys for all the responses the reason why is me and my better half went to a cooking show and they were talking about castiron and stainless cookwhere the advantages and disadvantages of both and i thought what if you had a cast iron pan covered in ss you would get the even heating of cast iron and the easy clean up of stainless steel among other things. ok welding out of the question. could you make a hollow ss pan and fill it with cast iron?
-
i had a idea to take a castiron pan and cover it in stainless steel, but i have no idea how to do it or if its possible.

get a couple hammers and something heavy to beat on like a thick piece of metal, make a forge u can make one out of some fire brick, some metal pipe and a hair dryer if u can weld u can make one like mine out of a tire rim and steel pipes and a old gas grill

The blueprints are very impressive, are you by any chance a draftsman or architect in real life.
Phil
no its just a quick sketch -
im planing on building a shed (shop) so i can forge year round its going to be 8'x12'x10'. Im making it out of plywood but im worried that the noise will be overwhelmingly loud in side and was planing on using expanding foam on the inside to cut down on the noise reverberating around. Do you think this will work? if not what would u suggest?

i had a problem with the old rust spots (divots) on my knives on the handles if you grind the spikes prior to forging it will give u a smoother finish

Hey Budd,
I've got a shop in Louisville and there are a few other folks around. I'm kind of buried in work right now, but we're planning some kind of open studio when the weather cools off a little.
