Hi I've had one of these hammers for about four years am very pleased with it. Very smoth action the head runs up & down in roller bearings. The only prob. I had is the way the top die is held in place with a bolt it can mess up the threads. The way I resolved that was to bore in about 1/4" deep into the die shank same size dia. as bolt then remove about 3/8" of the threads from bolt no more prob. I do have the air assist power power pack & it really came in handy when I was fullering some 1/2" x 2" in a die for a cap rail it was 8' long & I had a problem holding it & reaching the foot treadel. wana be

I mounted my blower outside in a weather tight incloser but you want to have a vibration damper between the wall & the blower otherwise the stud bay will amplify the noise good luck

being new to the art i purchased coke and not coal when trying to start the forge I light the coke with a torch and have tried
both little air and a lot of air but glowing coke goes out. what am I doing wrong? Thanks
Hi I started using coke last fall when I had a chance to go in with another Smith in the area on a ton of coke delivered for $606 a ton. It is harder to light but I like much better than coal much less clinker. I do use kindling to start it, get the kindling burning good add air then coak don't completley cover kindling untill coak is burning well good luck Wana Be -
