  1. Charles has it right. Even just come off of one side with a roof and use the seacan for storage. I have a 40 footer for steel storage and just the hammer tapping setting the floor to ceiling racking in place was enough to drive me crazy-I couldn't imagine working hot steel on the anvil in there!
  2. My 3 1/2" was $40 complete and 4 hours away-well worth it I thought and my 5" was about the same distance and missing the spring and mounting bracket for $35 and I think it was still well worth it! Go get it!!!
  3. South Central British Columbia is a pretty big area! There's gotta be coal somewhere in those hills. lol Is there a Co-op anywhere in your area,or a old timey hardware store-not Home Depot or Rona? I know there are horses down there so check with the local farriers-they probably don't use coal for shoeing if they are mobile but its possible that they have coal fired forges at their home bases. Or at the very least they may be able to point you in the right direction. Good luck Amos
  4. No idea what model it is but I like it!!! Makes me think there might be some upgrades to my Buffalo. I would guess that the firepot is raised in order to control creepage and hold the coals together when building up to accomodate long lengths that span the width of the forge pan. I do the same thing with a 1/4x2" flatbar ring around my firepot. I think if that pot was mounted on the bottom of the pan there would be a lot of black and red coal on the ground- lol I wouldn't do it backwards but I would definitely be up for a half day drive to pick up that lot for $265!
  5. newbie37,I picked up one almost identical to that for $50. Cleaned it up and put a little oil in the blower and has been going strong for five years now. Mine was found in a farmers field and I did all the clean up so you can probably expect to pay a bit more for that one.
  6. plane-crazy I only have about 2 hammers I haven't modified to do what I want them to do-mostly by grinding or filing to get the neccessary contour rounding, flattening or what have you. Use your imagination and make the hammer work for you.
  7. I guess I could do a bit more than that for a first post-lets see,a short list of some of the stuff I have tool wise -2 coal forges and one more in the works(I am building it as material appears),2anvils(both built by me)weighing in at approximately 150 lbs per. I have been making tongs as required and almost everything I do requires another set of job specific tongs. Actually that applies to most of the tools(as I am sure you all know).I have been working as a welder/fabricator for the past 30 years so alot of the stuff needed is around in one or another of the toolboxes already but it seems like I spend more time making tools than making something with the tools!

  8. Hello everyone, just finished registering and don't have a lot to say now but hope to talk to all of you in the future.
