    My local scrap metal man has a hand held spectrometer, that he uses to check the grade of metal for pricing, yours may have one also. It is always to have a friend in the scrap metal business.

    New to the site, just looking for info and discussion on metal working. I lost my job as a maintenance supervisor and started a new one at a welding and fab shop. I have worked with steel and in heat treating for the last 20 years in the maintenance field and need to learn more about the fabrication and forgeing side. Looking forward to learning a lot from all the experience here.
