Forging Carver

Hammer handle I made from an old craftsman hammer head i bought. Any tips or tricks will be greatly appreciated. The hard part for me was shaping the handle since using a hardwood. Also I mounted the head crooked. Any tips on how to fix these things?

  Thanks

Draw knife and farrier's rasp for working wood.

Add to that a spoke shave.  The stanley version is about 15 bucks and works extremely well for finishing the handle shape.

Thanks for the help. Next time I do a handle I will do what you guys said for a head or hammer I buy/restore. If I ever make hammers, I will just make the eye of the hammer the exact size of a pre made handle.

 Thanks
