So how well does it work? I like the idea a lot.

So Far it seems to work well . I still need to adjust the foot pedal so as not to tighten the belt as if I were trying to stop the motor. more test to follow tomorrow ....only time will tell.

BTW the thing runs faster and harder now that it has in the past.

Harley, put some sort of a guard in front of the spring so that we don't see you on the prayer list someday. :D

Harley, did you buy plans for the rest of the machine somewhere or is it your own design? I have seen them before but assumed that they where not worthwhile. sounds like you like yours.

I gotta agree with CurlyGeorge about the guard. I had a valve spring on a BMW R65 break under normal use with only 90,000 miles. Pieces can fly when not contained.
