That be a Scottish bonnet and the pin is probably a clan crest pin commonly worn by the common members of a clann, as an aside clann is derived from the Gaelic Clann meaning children reflecting the fact that most members of a clan were in fact related in some way to its sitting chief, alas not all clans have chiefs these days such as my own.
