ghart3 Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Howdy, I'm tinker, junk collector, retired (or is that retarded), self-taught hobby machinist. Like making tools, model engines and all most any kind of metalworking. About 10 or more years ago my welding buddy and I decided to build a Kinyon style air power hammer. He done the welding and machining was my job. Sadly my friend died and his unfinished hammer went as scrap at his welding shop auction. My frame sat rusting in outside storage and tried selling as unfinished project with no luck. So decided to finish. Copied the Chris Coleman's control system. Only change is going to use a 3 way air valve for the clamping circuit. Ram weight about 80 lbs and frame is single upright piece of 7/8" steel plate and the anvil is 6" round shaft 30" tall. All parts are made and time to tune up. Question, which problably is not that critical. How much foot pedal travel? Is something like 6" sound close enough? Gary Quote
