Any Brisbane smiths left?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone (anyone??),

Not official Brisbane Blacksmiths Association specifically, but just wondering if there are any regular forum members here at the moment who are from Brisbane, Australia (like me)?

I know there are Facebook groups (I'm in a fair few of them) but I find discussion etc are easy to lose down your feed too quickly on Facebook, which is why I come here where things are well organised and more easily searchable.

So, holler back!

Cheers,

Jono.

Nice! How far south? If you put your general location in your profile you might find some more smiths in your local area, too.

I'm from Brisbane, not experienced Smith though, young and hobbyist and also focus a little more on foundry/melting &casting. Im not sure if they're still around or not, but Northside is a place called "old petrie town" (around the area of petrie) and it has a few littles exhibits like an old forestation and steam engines, but it also has a running blacksmith and foundry with a bunch of old blokes who run it and still do demonstrations. 3 years ago ir was $15 to become a member at the foundry and they would allow you to use their machinery (lathes including etc.) With their supervision and instruction.

If they're still around (I hope) then it's definitely worth a visit.
