ozhunter
Hello everyone. Today I shifted one of my leg vices from the "roundtuit" list, to put it back into service. It was a treat to see the hammer marks etc from when it was first made appear as the rust was wired wheeled away. The screw and box are in really good condition and everything on it appears to be original. I think it might be a Wilkinson based on the remnants of a logo on the fixed jaw. Can anyone confirm that the symbol is in fact the Wilkinson cross? It has 6 inch jaws. I think it is a Wilkinson because the cross is very similar to the cross on my 150lb Wilkinson anvil. GWIOW
Looks like one of the ones I have but I can only make out w...sons ..ulens of Dudley witch is near Birmingham in the UK unless there is a Dudley in the US. All I can find is info on Peter Wright's of Dudley but not much else so far. Sorry
GWIOW
Right then Joshua Wilkinson & sons of Kates hill Dudley made vices and around 1800's he used the Queens cross, Dudley' trademark. So I'd say definitely a Wilkinson.
ozhunter
To Clarify, the first two photos are of the vice. The last photo is from the side of my anvil. I should have made that clearer.
