NWIO Posted October 19, 2017 Share Posted October 19, 2017 Hello, I'm very new to blacksmithing (I've yet to finish my first project - tongs). I bought this anvil from an antiques shop in the north west of the UK. There's not a whole lot of information I was given, other than that it was bought from a blacksmith who was using it for 30 years. It has no visible markings from what I can see, it's around 140kg / 308 lbs and has a good rebound of around 87%. Interesting anvil you have there and it looks usable. I can't help with a maker but will caution you against doing any grinding on the face of it which would ruin it. Thank you both kindly for your help :). I've edited my profile & I don't ever plan on doing any grinding. I've done a few tidbits of work on it & the pitting is really quite useful for flattening work so it doesn't seem to be an issue for me.
