Thank you both kindly for your help :). I've edited my profile & I don't ever plan on doing any grinding. I've done a few tidbits of work on it & the pitting is really quite useful for flattening work so it doesn't seem to be an issue for me. I'm really enjoying getting into this craft, thanks again for all your help!

Hello, I'm very new to blacksmithing (I've yet to finish my first project - tongs). I bought this anvil from an antiques shop in the north west of the UK. There's not a whole lot of information I was given, other than that it was bought from a blacksmith who was using it for 30 years. It has no visible markings from what I can see, it's around 140kg / 308 lbs and has a good rebound of around 87%.
