dablacksmith Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Ive been useing potato harvester conveyor belt rods for makeing dinner bells ... they ring really well so i have run out of them and was wondering what they are made of 1060 ? 1084? ime looking for sumthing to replace them any ideas? mike-hr Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 I make most of my punches and chisels out of potato chain. It's pretty finicky to heat treat, but really strong when done right. Mark Aspery said it behaves like 1090 or so, but we're all just guessing. Digger chain is getting harder to find, as most of the tater farmers around here are going to rubber belt machinery as it bruises the taters less. Quote
