September 30, 20169 yr No 4140 today, but I saw this nice sized bit of A2 at Discount Steel on my way home from work today. It's roughly 3 x 7 x 18" and 118.9 pounds as shown. Not sure the best procedure to heat the face to 1750 (many options), but it sounds like you would then let it air cool and then temper at 550 for an hour to end up in the high 50/low 60 RC hardness?
