Picked it up but never seen the what I believe to be a 800 mark and some writing i can't make out...

    I think it's Italic: ACCIAIO GARANTITO - guaranteed steel. Whether it is the maker or just some sort of info about its quality: I don't know.

    The number, as generally on European hammers, marks the weight in gramms.  

    Nice one, I like these kind of hammers. Put a haft on it and test the bad boy :)
