August 11, 20169 yr A Titanium-Gold alloy (Ti3Au) has been developed that is purported to be 4 times harder than titanium, making it the hardest material known that is compatible with living tissue. Interesting stuff, primarily since I never thought that titanium and gold could bond in that manner (not that I gave it much thought), although it probably has no particular application for metal working.
