SReynolds
Upon visiting my near by farrier/blacksmith supply I encountered much in the way of old school tools. Should have taken a picture of it all The store has been lacking in old shop tools the past few years. Looks like they got busy. Two forges. Five Canedy Otto blowers. Two midway blowers. Three 400's and dozens upon dozens of hammers hots cuts hardies punches fullers swage blocks etc. The stuff is going up up up in price. I couldn't pass up spending 115.00 for another 400. It is very very rare to locate a 400 that is quiet and smooth. They sound like rocks rolling about inside the case. And I have seen many 400's as a collector of them. The smaller units (8" I think) seem to fare much better than the more common 12's for some reason. Probably dont see as much work. But they all share same gear case! ! ! ! ! Besides, the smaller blowers move a bunch of air and are much easier to crank.
