78sharpshooter
I was wondering if anyone can point me to some methods for doing the bevels on a power hammer. I have an 88 lbs power hammer and started getting into knifemaking recently.
WayneCoeArtistBlacksmith
Are you talking about forging the bevels on a knife blade or tapering bar stock. When I am forging the bevels of a knife I use my drawing dies but run the blade lengthwise on the dies. I start with the full width of the blade on the die and then move it to the right, then turn the blade over and repeat the process moving to the left. This keeps the bevel centered. I also have a tapering bottom die similar to what was shown on other threads here. Just search for "tapering die" or Grant Sarver or Naked Anvil. With this die I can run a smooth taper or smooth out the steps in the bevels. There is not a lot of need for this step for the bevels because the bevels were forged using the drawing dies. Stormcrow
Here's how I do it with a pair of offset fuller dies: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYTbV-TAxU8
