December 4, 201411 yr I found this late colonial anvil today for sale for $110 cash. It did not look like it was in good condition but after oiling and cleaning, it does not look half bad. The weight marks are 2-27 which translates to 83 lbs, but it actually only weighs 80.4 lbs. I had to drive 30 miles to get it. Rebound is 80% and rings loudly. The last image is the picture from craigslist, disgusting! Enjoy photos!
December 5, 201411 yr Brad, glad to see you still popping around here. looks like another nice anvil for ya. pm'd you too
December 5, 201411 yr Wow, looks pretty nice actually. The craigslist picture made it look severely swaybacked, although it's not from looking at the other pictures.
December 5, 201411 yr Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder and that anvil to me is a piece of art sitting there! I am a sucker for those old anvils with the gentle curves and thick waist. You did well!!! I have yet to run across an anvil this old yet but when I do I will buy it up, and probably put it on a shelf and talk to it lol
December 5, 201411 yr Author I would have sworn the anvil had an inch of sway in the back, but it was an illusion. The man had it in his open air garage and it had lots of surface rust. Thanks guys!
