November 17, 201411 yr I've started my coal forge build. So far I've completed the fire pot. The base metal is 1/2in but I did add some angle to add some depth that is 1/4 in. As soon as I get my welder fixed I'll add more to the build. Stay tune.
November 17, 201411 yr Check out posts by DSW. He built his firepot and forge. His firepot was also made of thick metal like yours. His build was interesting and informative.
November 17, 201411 yr Author Thanks. I will check it out. I've got an old oil tank from my grandfather's house I'll be mounting everything in. It will definitely be portable how I've drawn everything out. Just need to find a good deal and some funds for the hand crank blower and some other items to get it rolling around. I should start cutting out more tomorrow if I can get off work in time.
November 17, 201411 yr His clinker breaker is shown in the lower left hand picture. It works a lot like a sink pop up. As I said over on WW, good job.
November 18, 201411 yr Author Put some temporary legs on tonight so I can start cutting the future forge body. Eventually this will be trailer mounted.
November 19, 201411 yr Author Had about an hour in the cold tonight to work on the table for the forge. Wish it was done so I could have some heat from it. Table measures 3 ft x 27 in.
November 19, 201411 yr Author Still cut in the rough , this is the general shop of the forge so far. The bottom edges will fold into the plate holding the fire pot. That will stiffen the side walls and some angle iron under the plate to support it from the bottom there will also be a divider wall to separate the forge from the storage area. A few other things I will get to as time goes by.
January 23, 201511 yr Author Got to fire up the forge for the first time. Still some work to do. sorry couldnt figure how to put up the video.
