58Darlene
I'm trying to get my feet wet in blacksmithing and have had this post vise for a couple years. It was given to me by my grandfather just before he passed. It sat in his barn and was never set up. It seems to be in good shape. It is missing the spring and mounting bracket but I'm fairly confident I can figure that out. The threads seem to be decent, and the only marking I can see is a "2" stamped on the screw housing. Did a little clean up on it today. Just a light wire brushing and rubbed it down with some oil. Anyone able to guess a rough age of this vise? Thanks in advance! MLMartin
It's English style. I would guess a solid wrought iron screw box. Could easily be from 1880 to 1950. It's hard to track age down on many vices becouse they hardly changed over the years
