1-1/2" Venturi Burner too large?

Featured Replies

Hi guys, long time lurker,

I've been intent on building a forge for the past few years, but could never justify the cost.  My wife, being the amazing woman that she is, bought me more or less all of the supplies I need to get this project off the ground for Christmas.

She based everything off of this video, so those are the materials I have:

It is not too large for a small furnace, but I think it is over kill for a normal size forge.  Read up and you will notice 3/4" is a common size.  Welcome to the forum

I've seen pretty much everywhere that one or two 3/4" is standard for that size forge (which I figure is about 550 cubic inches), but as long as a burner double that diameter will work then I'll be happy.  Would I be ripping through the fuel or have a hard time controlling temps with one that size?

1.5 diameter is NOT double the size of .75,  one inch is closer to double  the 3/4, your math is incorrect

I didn't really do math, I just wrote that without thinking about it.  Thanks for the info though.
