December 19, 201312 yr Just my 2 cents to me it like a piece of pipe that has been necked down over a mandrel the the mandrel removed and cut in the middle giving you 2 sections with each forging. Looking at your sample I do not see a place for the plugs to be removed once the tool has done its cutting. I would weld the tube to the head stock then heat treat. you would have to make a tool to line up the tubes for welding. soldering will not be strong enough to hold up with prolong use.
