Starting a charcoal forge fire

Featured Replies

Well Ive searched far and wide and I still havent found it. I dont know how to start a charcoal forge fire. I would assume that it would be the same as coal? I got a big piece of my charcoal and tried to light it and it wouldnt light without lighter fluid. I know you arent supposed to use lighter fluid for coal, but does that hold true for charcoal?

You can go Flint and striker on Char cloth-wood shavings-twigs-blow the ember into the charcoal but it takes about 2 minutes. A propane "weed killer/ice melter" torch takes about 10 seconds to light your charcoal. I use both. BUT as others have mentioned, keep those buckets of charcoal close, you'll use a lot!! But it's fun!!
