MLMartin
Why were you trying to lighten the contact wheel? It seems that a heavier wheel would hold more momentum as it first made contact with the tire. It looks like you are a pro on the lathe. I wish I knew how to run one better. oldanvilyoungsmith
Martin, I was assuming that as most of the contact wheels I'd seen were aluminum, that it ought to be lighter. To be honest I didn't really know either way, but I made an assumption based on what I'd seen....
Everything Mac
Keep these pics coming. I'll be bookmarking this for a later date! :) Good job. Andy
Sam Salvati
Your contact wheel does not need to be so long, it will put unneeded stress on the motor bearings.
Mike Romo
This is a great thread. Build pics are fantastic. Please keep posting the intricate stuff like the trenches in the roller bearings. Nice truck, too. I learned to drive a standard on my dad's old '68 Chevy stepside, four speed with granny gear and a 305. Miss that truck. Dodge
Any progress to report? Looking forward to seeing final product! :) Your contact wheel does not need to be so long, it will put unneeded stress on the motor bearings. While its probably too late (although you could cut it back) I have to agree with this. See my previous post. Mine is only 3" x 3" and note that only a small amount of that (maybe 3/4") actually contacts the tire. Hope this is useful Scott
