March 9, 201313 yr i want to make a small melting furness , ive seen the coffee pot style with wool refractory, could i get away with castable refractory to avoid the dust XXXX element of wool/fibre lining
March 11, 201313 yr I've made a small one out of a one paint can. I use it to cast jewelry. I made mine with inswool and one forced air burner. castable refractory should work just fine, but remember it will take a bit longer to get up to casting temp. I can take mine from 0 to 2000 degrees with a crucible full of silver in under 5 minutes so it suits my needs. Joram
