BigCotton89
Well the tang on the knife I've been working on broke off about a third of the way from the bottom. This knife was very close to finished and has been tested rigorously to make sure the blade itself would hold up and it passed with flying colors. What I want to know is can I reattach the portion of tang that broke off? it's far enough back that I don't think a quick weld would really affect the heat treat on the blade or truly affect the grip of the handle as the focus point of my grip is above the break. This part of the handle is basically filler so the bottom half of my hand doesn't feel empty and awkward. Thanks in advance for the help y'all! BigCotton89
Camera isn't working. The issue has been resolved anyways. I'll be silver soldering it and hoping it holds
pkrankow
Wrap the blade in a wet rag as added insurance against the heat. Phil
BigCotton89
Wet rag and a large vice to help shield it. If I can find a way to get the guard done before I fix the tang I'll go on and solder that too.
