Sam Salvati
Here's a new little ring hilt. I call it a "lady's knife", as it is a bit small for mah big hands. Forged from 1075, then quenched in a secret(shhhhh) way, then tempered. Estimated WHOLE knife RC would be around 54-55, maybe higher, but i'll get back with a more precise number, and some better pictures. It is a mean looking little knife, great razor edge, solid as a rock. Sheath(a proper one) to come soon as well, then up for sale it goes. The whoel knife is pretty much one taper, with a little upset area for your index finger to sit in comfortably when it is in your hand. Enjoy! Sam Salvati
Thanks Mike, it's nice I have standardized my heat treat technique, and am getting VERY consistent results now, with the help of my teacher, and also to learn what PROPER edge geometry means in both knives and swords. This one is signed and numbered, I would not put my name on it if I wouldn't swear by it.
patrickrock
Nice looking knife. I really like those little brut de forge styled knives. I need to try and make one.
Quenchcrack
I made a few of the "Ladies Knives" and had them for sale at a craft faire. A man came up and bought one and said "I am a surgeon and I am going to scare the out of one of my nurses". Whatever, his $20 was good.
