Deep Firepot Help

Hey,

i got a problem with a forge that i bought a while back, the fire pot is quite deep about 6" and its difficult to move the center of the fire up to a workable height, it also uses a heap of coke, :( any ideas to improve it, btw the fire pot is full cast iron one with a ducks next and trap and clinker break, i dont have the means to weld iron either,

if it really boils down to it ill just fabricate another one with a break drum as the fire pot,

That sounds like it will operate quite nicely. I have a forge with an 8" deep fire pot and it is tops. If I need a bigger fire, I use all of it, If I only need a small fire, like perhpas for nails/small hooks etc. I only use about 5-6 inches of it.

A rivet forge is about 3 or 4 inches deep and they don't work very well for many tasks. Are you wanting a forge to simply make small trinkets? A deep fire pot is best for just about every task imaginable.
