easilyconfused Posted May 12, 2007 Posted May 12, 2007 I was given what we call knives from a newer John Deere combine grain seperator (this is all local lingo since I don't know the technical term) There were a whole bunch of these about 1/4 thick and 3" wide with the length varying depending on wear. Anyways, I've used some for hot and cold chisels and they hold up really well and am currently making a knife out of one. It's fairly easy to forge but tough to file even when anealled so I think it will make a good knife but we'll see. I was just wondering if anyone had a better idea of the steel it is because all I get in my google searches are implement dealers. Quote
