Frank Turley
My friend and blacksmith, Andy Morris, is the manager of Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site in Colorado Springs. He is an all around hand, good with draft and riding horses, and he knows how to maintain all the buildings, implements, and blacksmith shop. He's good at dealing with the many visitors! I was concerned about his welfare and the condition of the Ranch site, and I heard from him today. He did get the horses moved, early on, to the Norris Penrose Center southeast of the 'Springs.' He said that the fire got within 1.5 miles of the ranch, and the wind turned in their favor. He was up at 2AM on Tuesday and was hosing down the shake roofs on a couple of the buildings because of the embers and ash that were falling in the area. The site had been closed for a few days because of the Waldo Canyon fire, but it opened to the public today, and it will be open for July 4th.
