June 20, 201213 yr Got tired of things being leaned against a wall and fast becoming a pile, so I made a stock rack. It was 80% done being in that I scavenged the frame from an old shop I used to work at, then just welded studs onto it. Used 1/2 round for the upper ones and some 5/8" for the lowers, much more organized now. I have carried that big steel rack for 3 years now, FINALLY *angry yet accomplished fist shake* it is used for something
June 20, 201213 yr That looks great! Sometimes I wish my rack was horizontal. I always lose things behind the big stuff in my vertical rack. BTW awesome power hammer!!!
June 20, 201213 yr Author Thanks J! The way I welded the studs on, this can be flipped up too. That's my Anyang hammer! I love it.
June 21, 201213 yr Great rack, I have something similar that mounts to a wall in my shop with angle iron bolted to the posts and the pegs welded on an angle like yours. Save your small lengths of 1" box tubing and if your material exceeds the length of the pegs slip a short piece of tubing over it and viola a wider shelf that is temporary.
June 21, 201213 yr nice job Sam, for longer stock I made a overhead hanging rack. just "t"s bolted through studs, so i could buy 20' sticks, this might help in your compact shop.
June 21, 201213 yr Author Moblacksmith yes I do do that :D I do still need to figure out a shorties storage though. FR thanks! I like that idea. I have some 5/8" J bolts I could bend into U tops and screw them through the ceiling.
June 21, 201213 yr So to understand correctly from the pictures, you got the self contained air hammer before you got a steel rack? OK! A bit out of order ya think? LOL I'm just messing with ya! :D Nice looking rack! There is something about a good steel rack with the long bars all arranged neatly, that just looks cool! :D Must be a blacksmith thing!
June 22, 201213 yr Shorties storage for me is a bunch of 4: box tubes cut to different lengths welded to a base plate.
