February 11, 201214 yr Blacksmith by Paul.White, on Flickr Hi everyone, I'm new here and I have to confess I am no expert in this field. However, I spend many hours with my neighbour in Transylvania, who is a very traditional Blacksmith using foot bellows to heat his metal. I also have a short video of him at work:- and a webpage dedicated to Miklos' work http://www.wildtrans...blacksmith.html
February 12, 201214 yr The first time I let go of the foot pedal on that forge, I'd get hit where I wouldn't want to. I'd have to cut that sucker a little shorter. Thanks for posting the video, and welcome to IFI. :)
February 12, 201214 yr hello, and "bine ai venit!", I'm from Transylvania, too, from Cluj, but now living in "exile", in Sibiu... that anvil pattern is the most common around here, maybe in the whole central Europe, from Austria to Romania. it exists as original and as local copy. I have two of them, a 32kg original one, JEB is marked on it, and a ~70's local copy of +100kg. the shop is very typical village's shop around here. very nice that you posted it. thank you!
February 12, 201214 yr Author Thanks Matei, I will ask Miklos where he got his anvil next time I see him. I must admit I don't know much about them. The first one I saw was at my wedding at Gretna Green Scotland Our Anvil at Gretna Green by Paul.White, on Flickr
